Your initial consultation is crucial in understanding your case. During this time we figure out the best way forward and decide what steps to take—or avoid—based on your specific and unique circumstances.
If we find that we are able to work with your case you will need to make a payment of $150 for a Zoom/Phone appointment, or $200 for an in-person meeting. All consultations are 30 minutes and in-person consultations are held at the Law Office of Abhisha Parikh in Edison, New Jersey.

Ensuring accuracy in your responses is crucial as we base our case evaluation on the information provided in your intake form. Throughout the entire case, we refer to and rely on the facts regarding entries/exits, marital history, and arrest history from your intake form. Your consultation also relies on this information. Any incorrect information on your intake form, if not corrected during the consultation, could significantly impact the case outcome and potentially lead to unintended negative consequences.
The foreign national must participate in the consultation, whether it’s conducted in person or over the phone/zoom. Ideally, we encourage the Petitioner’s presence as well. If the foreign national is physically with the Petitioner during the consultation, they don’t need to be on a three-way call, as long as they are available for questions.
Interpreters or other necessary individuals may join telephone consultations. However, only the petitioner and foreign national are allowed at in-person consultations; no other individuals will be permitted. If you require another person, like an interpreter, the consultation must be conducted via phone. For scheduling a three-way call, please request assistance at least 24 hours before the consultation. Otherwise, we assume you have arranged for all parties to be on the line at the scheduled appointment time.
Consultation times are scheduled based on Eastern Standard Time (EST) in New Jersey, United States. It’s essential to accurately determine the time difference between your location and EST to ensure you don’t miss your consultation. We recommend researching the internet to find out this time difference.
All consultations – whether conducted by zoom/phone or in person – are meant to start on time. Joining a meeting or arriving more than 15 minutes late will be acted on as a missed consultation. In-person appointments will still end at its designated time, despite a late arrival.
While we strive to cover all pertinent inquiries, it’s crucial to provide comprehensive and accurate details, even if we overlook specific questions.
During your consultation, we aim to provide a legal opinion without needing to conduct research. However, if necessary, we’ll deliver a legal opinion within one week after your consultation.
Once booked, fees are non-refundable. You can reschedule your appointment up to 24 hours beforehand, but no-shows will forfeit their fee. Consultations are non-transferable. Exceptions due to extenuating circumstances may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us to reschedule or discuss any concerns.
